Our girls work hard April through to late summer visiting local forage collecting their ingredients to create this specific variety.
In the process of gathering to sustain their family, they provide pollination services to our community; they’ve found friends amongst our farm and gardening neighbours, especially.

When I was a little girl, one of my aunt’s had a quilted cottage, tissue box cover, and a set of little ceramic frogs in her powder room; in my mind, the little frogs came out of that house and got up to all sorts of mischief when no-one was looking. They, to me, were pure magic.
I wanted to have something in our own home that reflected that bit of fun and whimsy so I created ‘Mouse in the House’, that became our tradition during the month of December. The mice are found doing all sorts of things, mostly leisure related, (i.e., they may be found enjoying the same piece of cheese for a few days), leading up to Christmas morning.
Each year that I’d post about our mice, I would have people asking if I sell them, so, I decided to make ‘Mouse in the House’™, an official product for others to enjoy in their homes, too.
Each mouse comes with a little green scarf and a heart of gold. I also include a letter from our homestead explaining the mice, their happenings, and asking if your home would welcome the Mouse in the House.

Hand crafted in Nova Scotia, I reached out to Hide and Paw to carry these leads after ordering one for our Portie pup, Tuck, and admiring both the quality and aesthetic. We are proud to highlight these makers and can’t wait to see your sweet pups enjoy them.
3/4" wide handcrafted lead. Made with full grain vegetable tanned leather that is dyed with our tan oil-based dye and fastened with solid-brass rivets, D-ring and trigger-style clasp. The lead is double treated to give this leather the most weather/wear resistance possible while still keeping that premium leather look and feel.

Like many of the items we carry in our shop, these came to be after I went searching for them myself and had a hard time finding them locally or even nationally. They are working cookie molds if you’d like to start a new tradition of baking springerle cookies, or continue an old one, or even use as a tree decoration hung with ribbon, or attach to a wrapped gift like the cherry on top, or…you get the picture!
