It might be the teacher in me but I so enjoy holiday and seasonally themed reads!

I’ve searched about to curate a list of fun, heart warming, and informational winter story books including old favourites, like 50 Below Zero by Robert Munsch (children’s book author royalty here in Canada), and new stories like The Little Snowplow.

Here are 12 snowy reads to hold you over until the Spring…or if you’re anything like me…Valentine’s Day!

I did mix and match reading levels.

Theodora is only one and a half years old so the touch and feel book and Red Sled are amongst her favourites.

Red Sled tops the list for me, too. I hadn’t read it before so wasn’t expecting the lack of dialogue, “woah!”, is description enough for the adventure a bear embarks on while giving a ‘borrowed’ little red sled a go.

Tip: even if the books are a higher reading level, the text and photos can still be a marvel for all readers.

Theodora loves the illustrations; a music stand set at its lowest height makes for a great open book holder. I will catch her standing, pointing to and touching the photos when she is playing. It’s nice to have the book at her level where she can independently explore.

Although I will be switching out to some Valentine’s Day themed books soon, here in our area of Canada, the snow will likely last until the end of March, giving us lots of time to revisit our wintery selections.

Do you have any favourite winter themed books? Any from the list that you also enjoy?

Thank you so much for taking the time to pop in today, I hope to see you again soon! -Samantha
