Lilac Season at Tuckamore

Lilacs

A life well lived, to me, includes time to celebrate the seasons. To take in the jewels of each month, some that go as quickly as they’ve come; like lilac season.

“Those lilacs make the house smell like an old country home. Your grandmother used to put them out down the country”,

my mum, upon entering the homestead for a visit last summer. Sometimes all it takes is a glimpse of an object to bring back a flood of warm and very real memories. I think of my nan whether it’s a knit sweater, an old black and white movie, or fresh lilacs, there’s something that has stuck all of these years and even after she passed, when I see these items I feel her so; love will do that.

I’ve gathered a few photos from this year and last of the lilacs. I had dreamed of a one day life where I’d have time (and the farmhouse sink!) to really celebrate all that each seasonal month has to offer.

Here is a celebration of the beautiful lilacs at our Tuckamore Homestead. I hope you can almost smell them.
