Brownie Hearts for Valentine's Day

brownie hearts Valentine's Day

Holidays and traditions go hand and hand in our home; normally, you’d find me hosting a Valentine’s Day Tea, like last year (click here to read) for the youngest of Theodora’s cousins. Last year we had the sweetest tea with cookies and a fun playlist but this year with COVID-19 concerns, we decided to do something different: an ice skating party. We rented the local rink for one hour of private skating (surprisingly affordable), and I needed to think of a sweet treat to hand out in individual little packs.

Ready for the best brownie recipe I’ve ever found?

brownies

Yes. Packaged brownie mix! My favourite, no fail, fudgey and chewy brownie option: Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownies

Just follow the directions on the package, I do place parchment paper into the pan before baking so I can simply lift the whole baked brownie out and onto the counter for easy use of the cookie cutter.

Tip: wait until the brownie has cooled completely before using your cookie cutters. When I don’t, they usually fall apart more easily.

After you’ve cut out the heart shapes, you can use the excess to roll into little bites. This is a Martha Stewart trick that is so easy and when rolled in icing sugar or cocoa powder, they taste like a slightly different treat. Nearly truffle like but I would say more similar to a brownie Tim Bit, if you’re Canadian, and donut hole, elsewhere!

I used parchment paper to individually wrap one heart and one bite for each of the skating party attendees.

Super simple, a few staples and a cut out paper heart as a seal, or, a Valentine’s Day Card (Theodora had Peppa Pig themed ones this year), and you’ve got a quick and sweet treat set.

Valentine's Day Classic

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone.

I hope your day is filled with love and a bit of sweetness.
